Since 2003, Johns Hill Landcare has worked with the community to protect and conserve wildlife habitat in the Emerald region of Victoria. Our volunteers feel empowered by working alongside like-minded people who care about nature, local wildlife and the health of our ecosystems.
Every small action makes a difference. By helping to remove weeds, replant indigenous vegetation and care for local habitat, you are helping provide food and shelter for native creatures and supporting the environment that sustains us all.
Our mission is to reduce local weeds, replant indigenous vegetation, and provide information, education and research about the natural environment for communities around Emerald.
Volunteer activities may include:
- Weeding
- Revegetation and planting indigenous species
- Seed collection
- Research and information sharing
- Community awareness and education
Johns Hill Landcare has contributed to many local projects, including weed control along the Puffing Billy Railway line, revegetation at Pepisland in Emerald, Ridge Road in Kallista, and sections of Menzies Creek, as well as collaborating with agencies at Butterfield Reserve.
We welcome new volunteers of all ages and experience levels. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, your help will make a meaningful contribution to the local environment.
