The Club was formed in 1946 and competed in the Mountain District Football Association until 1966 when the MDFA amalgamated with the Yarra Valley Football League to form the Yarrra Valley-Mountain District Football & Netball League (YVMDFNL).
We now compete in the Outer East Football Netball League, which was formed in 2019 as a result of the merger of the South East FNL and the YVMDFNL.
The founding fathers of the Club were, in the main, returned servicemen who lived in Upwey and the adjoining township of Tecoma (thus the name Upwey-Tecoma). They chose the tiger as the Club’s emblem and so the Club is more commonly known as the “Upwey Tigers”. Our home ground is officially called the “Alistair Gillies Oval” but everyone knows it simply as “The Dome”
In 2024 the Club is fielding 5 football teams, being Seniors, Reserves, Womens, Under 19 and Under 18, along with 4 open age Netball Teams.
The Upwey Tecoma Junior Football Club fields a further 12 junior teams from Under 9 through to Under 16 across boys, girls and mixed teams.
